Life Update

A lot has changed for us these last few years! If you haven’t been keeping up, lets do a quick recap. Towards the beginning of 2021, we decided that it was time to leave Seattle. As much as it was a transformative time for our family, we knew that the moment was passing by. With the diagnosis of my wife’s cancer, and the opportunity to advance my career goals, it just made sense for us to move to Houston, where my wife would receive some of the best care for one of the premier cancer hospitals in the country.

Prior to leaving, the lead Pastor and the leadership team thought it was best that we close Flourish Church. It was obviously a tough decision. We felt that the timing was right and that the Lord was moving us all in a different direction. When something doesn’t “work”, sometimes we can think that it was a failure and its a reflection of your leadership. However, I am convinced that, while our church only lasted a couple of years, it was not a failure. In fact, I know that we were a blessing to the community and the people connected to the ministry, and for that we celebrate and thank God for his faithfulness!

Jonica was able to connect with an amazing oncologist who listened to her concerns and desires and was able to treat her in the way she wanted. Two years later, she is still disease free. Bless the Lord! After a lot of consideration, we decided that Houston may be where we want to stay for a while and so at the top of the year we decided that we would begin the foster to adopt process. We connected to an agency here and are currently working through all of the requirements to become licensed. Definitely didn’t realize the level of work, classes, and paperwork needed to get this all done…. Hopefully by the end of the year, we will have a new, exciting update!
